University of Albany Women's Golf Takes Home America East Conference Championship: UAlbany Athletics

Simsbury, Conn. – Amanda McPhee and Corrin Conroy finished in a three-way tie for first place to lead the UAlbany women’s golf team to the America East Conference Championship on Sunday, May 4 at the par-72, 5,826-yard Simsbury Farms Golf Course. The Great Danes captured their second conference championship in five years with a two-round score of 657, to top Hartford by one stroke. McPhee and Conroy tied with Hartford’s Juliana Carrillo for top individual honors at 162. UAlbany's Richard "Doc" Sauers was recognized as the conference’s head coach of the year.

McPhee, a sophomore from Winchester, Mass., carded her second consecutive 81 to finish in the tie for first place. Freshman Conroy, who recorded a first-round leading 80 on Saturday, registered an 82 in the final round. The pair is the first set of Great Dane teammates to finish in a first place tie since Jill Friedman and Diane Onofry accomplished the feat in 2005.

Sophomore Jessica Signorelli followed her 83 in the first round with an 82 in round two to finish in fifth place at 165. Senior Maggie Taylert rounded out the top four UAlbany competitors with a two-day score of 168, on rounds of 80 and 88. Junior Sun Hwa Kim finished with a 183.
